The owner of a Lincoln Navigator contacted the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in the city of Vista.

The San Diego County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lincoln.

Within 4 minutes, deputies from the San Diego County SD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lincoln with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Lincoln to the 600 block of Black Veil View Road in Vista. A traffic stop was made; one suspect was taken into custody for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Lincoln Navigator in July 1999 at Witt Lincoln Mercury in Escondido, California.
