The owners of a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta contacted the Los Angeles Police Department Van Nuys Division to report that their vehicle was stolen. Apparently the Jetta had been broken into the evening before and the keys taken as well as personal property and a bank card. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Jetta.

Jetta Recovered – Narcotics Found on Suspects – Arrests Made

A short while later officers from the LAPD West Valley Division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Jetta with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Jetta to a rear parking area in the 7000 block of Reseda Blvd. The Jetta was unoccupied and appeared to have been recently driven. Officers established a surveillance on the Jetta and within a few minutes observed a male and female enter the vehicle and drive off. The Jetta was stopped by officers in an alley just off Reseda Blvd and taken into custody without further incident. Officers obtained statements from both suspects as well as stolen property belonging to the victim. In addition they found narcotics in their possession noting outstanding warrants for their arrest on prior narcotic charges. The officers contacted the victim who responded and obtained possession of their Jetta. Both suspects were booked on various felony charges including the vehicle theft.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Volkswagen Jetta in December 2016 at Galpin Volkswagen in North Hills, California.
