The owners of a 2007 Honda Civic and a 2012 Subaru Impreza contacted the Sacramento Police Department to report that their vehicles were stolen. The owners stated they were the victims of a home invasion robbery. They stated three suspects wearing masks, armed with handguns, kicked in the front door of their residence, forced them into a closet, robbed them and fled in the victims’ above listed vehicles.

The Sacramento PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® Systems concealed in the Honda and Subaru.

A short while later officers from the Sacramento PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Subaru with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Subaru to a residential area near Candelaria and Candelaria Ct in Sacramento. The officers observed the Subaru parked and abandoned at the curb. The officers impounded the Subaru to be processed for finger prints.

Just minutes after the above tracking, the Richmond Police Department and the California Highway Patrol Air 31 in the Bay Area both received the silent Lojack signal from the stolen Honda. The Air unit tracked the signal to the 1800 block of 38th Ave in Oakland and observed the Honda parked at the curb. The Air unit contacted the Oakland Police Department who sent officers to the location. They observed the Honda unoccupied. The Oakland PD set up surveillance in hopes the suspects would return. After several hours and negative results the Honda was impounded to be processed for finger prints.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in July 2007 at Tracy Honda in California.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Subaru Impreza in February 2012 at AutoNation Mazda in Roseville, California.
