The owner of a 2001 Toyota Tundra contacted the Oakland Police Department to report that their pickup had been stolen. The victim stated they discovered the Toyota missing from in front of their residence in the 7800 block of Garfield Avenue.

The Oakland PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Tundra.

A short time later, an investigator from the Alameda County Regional Auto Theft Task Force picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota Tundra with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the investigator tracked the stolen Toyota to the residential area of the 2900 block of Partridge Avenue where the pickup was found unoccupied, parked at the curb.

The Toyota was recovered and released to a very grateful owner at the scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Tundra in November 2000 at Hayward Toyota in California.
