The owners of a 2010 Toyota Corolla contacted the Inglewood Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen by unknown suspects. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Corolla.

Minutes later the Los Angeles Police Department Metropolitan officers working the LAPD 77th St Division Crime Suppression received information from the LAPD Air-10 flight officers that they had picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota Corolla with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the air unit tracked the Toyota to a fast food drive thru and directed the officers to the vehicle that was parked in the parking lot.

Arrest Made of Stolen Vehicle Suspect

Noting that the Toyota showed that it was recently driven, the Metro officers established surveillance.  A few minutes later the officers observed a male adult approach holding what appeared to be a remote and noted the lights flash on the Toyota.  At that point, the suspect walked away and was immediately detained.  The investigation revealed that the remote was to the stolen Toyota and the suspect admitted he had stolen the Toyota Corolla.  He was arrested and later booked for the theft. The Toyota was stored for safe keeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Corolla in December 2009 at Toyota Central in Los Angeles, California.
