The owners of a 1999 Toyota Tacoma contacted the Monrovia Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen by unknown suspects. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Tacoma.

Tracking in Four Minutes – Two Suspects Arrested

Four (4) minutes later officers from the Arcadia Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota Tacoma with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the officers tracked the Toyota to a large mall parking lot in Arcadia and located the Toyota parked and unoccupied. They noted a female and male sitting in a van next to the stolen Toyota Tacoma and made contact.  Through their field investigation they determined that these two suspects were responsible for the theft as evidence was found in their van connecting the stolen Toyota Tacoma.  They also located a large amount of stolen property and personal property belonging to the victim i.e. mail, tools and other personal items.  Both suspects were arrested and booked for the theft of the vehicle, receiving stolen property and possession of burglary tools.  In addition the male subject had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.  The victim responded to the scene and identified his property.  The stolen Toyota Tacoma was released to the victim.  Case referred to detectives for follow up investigation.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Tacoma in May 2002 at Auto Nation in Cerritos, California.
