The owners of a 2007 Honda Accord contacted the Cleveland Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.  Two unknown suspects, armed with a firearm, approached the victims and ordered them to turn over their keys and cell phones.  The victims complied.  The suspects entered the victim’s Honda and sped off.

The Cleveland PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short while later officers from the Cleveland PD and University Circle Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the officers determined that the Honda was mobile.  An attempt was made to perform a felony stop however the suspects sped off.  Due to the reckless driving of the suspect, the pursuit was terminated.  The Honda was tracked and found abandoned in a residential area of Cleveland.

Because of the quick recovery the suspects did not have enough time to strip the Honda or use it to commit additional crimes.  The stolen Honda was impounded for processing and later returned to the owner.  This matter is to be further investigated by the Cleveland PD.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in July 2007 at Honda of Nanuet in New York.
