The owner of a 1997 Honda Civic contacted the Fremont Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen. The victim stated they discovered the Honda missing from the parking lot of a strip mall in the 3600 block of Thornton Avenue at approximately 3:00 pm in the afternoon.

The Fremont PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda Civic.

A short time later, an officer from the Fremont PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda Civic with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) which are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the officer tracked the stolen Honda Civic to the parking lot of a bank in the 39000 block of Fremont Boulevard where he found the vehicle abandoned.

The Honda was processed for latent fingerprints, recovered and towed/stored to be released to the owner.

This was the fourth theft and recovery of this Honda via the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in August 1997 at Honda of Thousand Oaks in California.
