LoJack System Helps Oakland Police Department Recover Stolen Chevrolet Camaro SS

The owner of a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro SS contacted the Antioch Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen. The victim advised the Chevrolet was taken from in front of their residence in the 5200 block of Sungrove Way between the hours of 10:00 pm and 4:30 am.
The Antioch PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet Camaro.
A short time later, officers from the Oakland Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet Camaro with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) which are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the officers tracked the stolen Camaro to the residential area of Castle Park Way where they found the vehicle unoccupied.
The Camaro was recovered and towed/stored to be released to the owner.
These late model Camaro SS vehicles have become a frequent target of thieves in the San Francisco Bay Area and they are often recovered after having been stripped of their engine/transmission, wheels/tires and interiors. Fortunately this Camaro was quickly located after the theft by means of the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System before the thieves could return to strip it.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Camaro in July 2016 at Winter Chevrolet in Pittsburg, California.
