The owners of a 2008 Honda CRV contacted the Los Angeles Police Department Foothill Division to report that their vehicle was stolen by unknown suspects. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda CRV.

Ten (10) minutes later officers from the LAPD Newton Division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  After receiving the description, they began a search and pulled into a parking lot noting that the signal was approaching their location.  The signal increased to full strength as the Honda drove by their location and pointed directly as the Honda as it went in the opposite direction. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the officers tracked the Honda on to the 60 Freeway requesting back up. When back up arrived the officers conducted a felony traffic stop taking three occupants into custody without further incident.

The investigation revealed that the passenger had an outstanding warrant for Narcotics possession.  The driver was arrested and later booked for the theft of the Honda. The third passenger was released and considered a witness.  The undamaged Honda was stored for safe keeping and later released to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda CRV in August 2008 at Galpin Honda in San Fernando, California.
