The owner of a 2005 GMC Yukon contacted the Oakland Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen.  The victim advised the GMC was taken from in front of their residence in the 3100 block of Bona Street.

The Oakland PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the GMC Yukon.

A short time later, officers from the Oakland PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen GMC Yukon with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) which are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the officers tracked the stolen Yukon to the area of Royal Ann Street, between 101st and 102nd Avenues, where they found the vehicle unoccupied.

The GMC was recovered and released to the owner at the scene.

This was the second time this GMC has been stolen and recovered via the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System in the past four months.

The LoJack® System was installed in the GMC Yukon in October 2005 at Hooman Pontiac GMC Buick in Culver City, California.
