The owner of a Ford Expedition contacted the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in the city of Ocotillo.

The Riverside County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

At a later time, officers from the Palm Springs Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Ford to a commercial parking lot located at Gene Autry and Mission Ave in the city of Palm Springs.  A traffic stop was made and one suspect was arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.  The Ford was previously reported stolen, tracked and recovered by Indio Police Department in 2007.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Expedition in August 2002 at Mossy Ford in San Diego, California.
