LoJack® System Helps El Dorado Sheriff’s Department Recover Stolen Toyota Tacoma

The owners of a 2017 Toyota Tacoma contacted the Placerville Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The victim indicated the Toyota was parked in their driveway and when they got up to go to work they discovered the vehicle missing.
The Placerville PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.
A short while later an officer from the Sacramento Police Department K-9 unit was westbound Highway 50 and picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota near Highway 50 and E Bidwell Road in El Dorado Hills. The officer exited the freeway, began to track the signal and requested assistance from the El Dorado Sheriff’s Department. Following the directional and audible cues from their PTC the officers and deputies tracked the Toyota to a hotel parking lot. The officers observed the Toyota parked and abandoned. The officers conducted a further investigation and identified the person who drove the Toyota into the parking lot. That individual was then arrested for auto theft and receiving stolen property.
The victim was contacted, responded to the scene and took possession of his now recovered Toyota.
The LoJack® System was installed in the 2017 Toyota Tacoma in November 2016 at Roseville Toyota in California.
