The owners of a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe contacted the Santa Ana Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

Minutes later the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Air-24 flight crew picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the airship tracked the Chevrolet to the city of South El Monte and notified ground deputies of the tracking location. Deputies from the Temple Station responded and located the Chevrolet parked and unoccupied. They noted five (5) male individuals standing by the Chevrolet and with the assistance of other deputies, detained the subjects. The location was a business and through a thorough field investigation identified the owner of the business as the person in possession of the vehicle keys.  After receiving a bogus story, this suspect who had prior vehicle theft issues was arrested and booked for the theft of the Chevrolet. The undamaged Chevrolet was stored and later returned to the victim.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Tahoe in April 2007 at Corona Chevrolet in California.
