The owners of a 2015 Jeep Wrangler contacted the La Habra Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen.  The La Habra PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Jeep.

A short while later a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office airship picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Jeep with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the SBSO airship tracked the mobile Jeep to the city of San Bernardino.  The airship requested assistance from the San Bernardino Police Department to stop the Jeep. The airship maintained surveillance of the Jeep as it traveled through several streets in the city.  The San Bernardino PD officers were able to catch up to the stolen Jeep and initiated a high risk stop when sufficient officers arrived.  When the SBPD officers activated their overhead emergency lights the driver of the stolen Jeep pulled into a gas station and stopped.  The driver was detained and later arrested.  The officers found a “meth” pipe on the passenger side of the Jeep.  The driver stated his nephew gave him the Jeep to drive and that his nephew recently purchased the Jeep.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Jeep Wrangler in August 2015 at Puente Hills Chrysler Dodge Jeep in California.
