LoJack® System Helps Oakland Police Department Recover Stolen Toyota Camry

The owner of a 2003 Toyota Camry contacted the Union City Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen.  The owner advised the Toyota had been taken from the area of Balomar Street and Claremont Street.

The Union City PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short time later, officers from the Oakland Police Department and an East Bay Regional Park Police helicopter picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) which are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen Toyota to the area of the 8600 block of Hillside Street where they found the vehicle unoccupied.

The Toyota was recovered and towed/stored to be returned to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Camry in November 2002 at Fremont Toyota in California.
