The owner of a Honda Civic contacted the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in an unincorporated area of San Diego.

The San Diego County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Within 11 minutes officers from the San Diego Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Honda to the 1000 block of South 43rd Street in the city of San Diego.  A traffic stop was made; two suspects were taken into custody for vehicle theft, possession of stolen property and outstanding warrants.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic on September 1997 at Goudy Honda in Alhambra, California.
