The owner of a 2009 BMW 335 contacted the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in the city of Indio.

The Riverside County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

At a later time officers from the Escondido Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the BMW to the area of Lake Wohlford Road and Oakvale Road in the city of Valley Center.  One suspect was taken into custody for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW 335 in May 2009 at BMW of North Scottsdale in Phoenix, Arizona.
