The owner of a 2008 Audi A3 contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in the city of San Diego.

The San Diego PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Audi.

At a later time, officers from the National City Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Audi with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Audi to a residential neighborhood located in the 2800 block of East 4th street in National City. A traffic stop was made and one suspect was taken into custody for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Audi A3 in December 2007 at Miramar VW Audi in San Diego, California.
