The owners of a Jeep Wrangler contacted the West Valley Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.

A police officer verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Jeep.

A short while later officers with the West Valley PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Jeep with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the Jeep to the area of 5600 W and Parkway Blvd in West Valley.  Because the Jeep had just been stolen and was freshly abandoned the officers elected to conduct a surveillance of the unoccupied vehicle to see if suspects would soon return.  When that didn’t happen the officers secured the Jeep to be returned to the very happy owners.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Jeep Wrangler in September 1998 at Don-A-Vee Jeep Suzuki in Los Angeles, California.
