The owner of a 2000 Ford Mustang contacted the North Las Vegas Police Department to report their vehicle as stolen. The victim advised they possibly left the keys in the trunk lock.
The North Las Vegas PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mustang.

Around 8 minutes after the activation, officers with the North Las Vegas PD, officers with the Las Vegas Metro Police Department and VIPER detectives picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Ford and located it unoccupied. VIPER detectives set up surveillance on the stolen Mustang and observed two subjects enter the vehicle. The Mustang went mobile at which time a traffic stop was initiated and the occupants were taken into custody. The driver was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle. The stolen Mustang was recovered and released back to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Mustang in April 2000 at Puente Hills Ford in California.
