The owner of a local business center discovered that person(s) had forced the security gate on the property open and then forcefully entered the business office area. Once inside, the perpetrator(s) dismantled the office safe and removed several vehicle keys. The perpetrators then went outside to the company lot and drove off with several vehicles. The business owner called 911 and the Philadelphia Police Department Radio dispatched a 12th District uniformed officer to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the principals and notified the Philadelphia PD Southwest Detective Division. A detective was assigned to the investigation and the crime was processed for physical evidence. During the course of the investigation, the detective arranged to have the stolen vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Land Rover.

Minutes after the LoJack activation, uniformed officers from the Philadelphia PD 16th District picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Land Rover with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the signal to the area of Westminster Avenue where they observed a parked vehicle that matched the description of the stolen Land Rover. The officers cautiously approached the Land Rover and determined that same was unoccupied. The officers made the proper notifications and the Philadelphia PD Tow Squad dispatched a police tow truck to take possession of the Land Rover. The Land Rover was confiscated and secured at Philadelphia PD Tow Squad HQ to be processed for physical evidence.
