The owners of a 1996 Honda Accord contacted the Buena Park Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen by unknown suspects. Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short while later officers from La Verne Police Department were working a special detail at White St and the Fair Grounds picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the tracked the Honda and located the vehicle. When they attempted to stop the Honda, the suspects fled and failed to yield. The Honda apparently lost control and crashed. The suspects fled on foot from the scene. Officers gave chase and apprehended the juvenile driver and male adult passenger who was found armed with a stolen hand gun. Both suspects were arrested without further incident and booked on felony charges.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in July 1999 at Scott Robinson Honda in Torrance, California.
