The owner of a 2002 Toyota Camry called the Albuquerque Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen from a residence in the Southeast Area Command.  The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Within just under an hour after the activation, officers with the Albuquerque PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the Toyota was tracked and found in a residential neighborhood in the Foothills Area Command.  The Toyota was abandoned and parked along the curb.  A Crime Scene Specialist processed the Toyota for evidence at the recovery scene.  The Toyota was subsequently towed for safekeeping to be returned to the owner at a later date.
