The owners of a Honda Civic contacted the West Valley Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen.

A police officer verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Ten minutes later officers with the West Valley PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Civic with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Honda to the general area of 3600 S & 3000 W where they found the vehicle had been abandoned by the thief just moments before.  A surveillance of the Honda was conducted to see if the suspect would return to the car but was terminated when that didn’t happen.

The Honda was recovered undamaged and returned to the very happy owners who were unaware that their vehicle had been previously equipped with LoJack by its first owner in California.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in January 1999 by Colonial Honda in Glendale, California.
