LoJack® System Helps San Diego Police Department Air Unit (ABLE) Recover Stolen Toyota Rav4

The owner of a Toyota Rav4 contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from his residence in the city of San Diego.

The San Diego PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later, officers from the San Diego PD Air unit (ABLE) picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to a residential neighborhood located in the 9000 block of Hillery Drive in San Diego. ABLE directed ground units to the area for the recovery.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Rav4 in May 2003 at Mossy Toyota in San Diego, California.
