The owners of a 2008 Ford Focus contacted the Ridgecrest Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.

Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Seven (7) minutes later, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Palmdale patrol deputies picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles.   Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Ford to the area of the 2000 block of East Ave R-4.  The deputies located the Ford parked at a residence. The suspect was contacted as he left the residence and was taken into custody for auto theft related charges without incident.

The Ford was impounded for safe keeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Focus in October 2008 at Vista Ford in Oxnard, California.
