The owner of a 2008 Toyota Prius contacted the Palm Springs Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen after his keys and other belongings were taken from his home in the city of Palm Springs.

The Palm Springs PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later, officers from the Palm Springs PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to a residential neighborhood located in the 600 block of Eugene Road in Palm Springs. All stolen items were recovered.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Prius in November 2008 at Toyota Chula Vista in California.
