The victim in this incident is employed as a pizza delivery man and reports that he was delivering a pizza to a residence in northeast Philadelphia. The victim stopped his Nissan Xterra in front of the residence and was checking his phone when he felt a slap on his neck. The victim was then pulled from his Nissan, punched, kicked and thrown to the ground by two males. One of the males placed the barrel of a handgun in the victim’s ribs and then the males took the complainant’s cell phone, wallet, car keys and U.S Currency. The victim was able to break away from the males and fled on foot while the perpetrators drove from the scene in the complainant’s Nissan.

The victim called 911 and the Philadelphia Police Department Radio dispatched officers to the scene to investigate. The victim was then transported to the Philadelphia PD Northeast Detective Division where a detective was assigned to the robbery. The assigned detective interviewed the complainant and then entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

The members of the Philadelphia PD Major Crimes Auto Squad Investigators picked up the LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in the undercover police vehicle. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the investigators tracked the signal to a small side street in northeast Philadelphia and pulled to the curb when the PTC indicated full signal strength. The investigators observed that the Nissan was now behind the unmarked police vehicle with a marked police vehicle approaching the rear of the Nissan. The Major Crimes Investigators exited the vehicle and identified themselves as police officers by displaying identification and announcing police in a loud voice. The male driver and male occupant jumped from the moving Nissan as same came in contact with the rear of the undercover police vehicle. A foot pursuit resulted in both males being placed under arrest. Confiscated from the males were fruits of the robbery; a ski mask and a plastic bag containing a controlled substance. The two males were placed under arrest and investigation subsequent to this arrest resulted in both males being charged with robbery, theft, assault, conspiracy and possession of a controlled substance. The perpetrators remain under investigation by the members of the Philadelphia Police Major Crimes Auto Squad and Northeast Detective Division.
