The owner of a 1997 Honda Civic contacted the Las Vegas Metro Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen. The Las Vegas Metro PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Within 7 minutes after the activation, a K9 officer with the LVMPD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the K9 officer tracked the Honda and located it unoccupied. The Honda was recovered and released back to the owner’s sister at the scene.

This is the second time the Honda has been reported stolen, tracked and recovered by law enforcement using LoJack.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in March 2001 via Direct Sales in Los Angeles, California.
