The owner of a 2006 Nissan X- Terra contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen after the suspects took the keys from inside another vehicle in the city of San Diego.

The San Diego PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

Within a short while, officers from the San Diego PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Nissan to a residential neighborhood located in the 4900 block of 49th Street in San Diego. After a short foot pursuit two suspects were arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan X-Terra in March 2003 at Gardena Nissan in California.
