The owners of a 2007 Lexus RX350 contacted the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The victim’s son awoke to the sound of a vehicle leaving their driveway. The victim then checked and the suspects entered the garage, got the keys to the Lexus and drove off.

The Sacramento SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lexus.

A short while later deputies from the Sacramento SD Auto Theft Task Force (ACE) picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lexus with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Lexus to the area of Balmoral and St. Mathews Streets. The Lexus was parked and abandoned in this residential area.

The Lexus was intact and did not sustain any damage. The deputies had the Lexus impounded to be processed for finger prints.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Lexus RX350 in March 2006 at Lexus of Sacramento in California.
