The owners of a Lexus GS4 contacted the Denver Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen. A police officer verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lexus.

Within three minutes of the entry the LoJack device concealed in the stolen Lexus was activated and broadcasting its silent signal to the police. These signals were picked up by LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. In addition to Aurora Police Department locating and recovering the stolen Lexus both the University of Denver PD and Denver PD officers were also picking up the silent signal.

The Lexus was recovered by Aurora PD where it had been abandoned by the thief near the intersection of 13th Avenue and Dayton Street. The owners were contacted and called to the scene to recover their Lexus.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Lexus GS4 in December 2001 at Lexus of Cerritos in California.
