The owner of a 1998 GMC Suburban contacted the Las Vegas Metro Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen. The Las Vegas Metro PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the GMC.

About an hour after the stolen vehicle entry, officers with the Las Vegas Metro PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen GMC with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the GMC and found it to be unoccupied. The GMC was recovered, towed from the scene and will be released to the owner at a later date.

The LoJack® System was installed in the GMC Suburban in October 1997 at Superior Pontiac GMC in Ontario, California.
