The owner of a Toyota Camry contacted the Chula Vista Police Department to report that her vehicle was stolen in the city of Chula Vista.

The Chula Vista PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later, deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department helicopter unit (ASTREA) and officers from the Chula Vista PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Toyota to a residential neighborhood located in the area of Rancho Del Rey Park Way in Chula Vista.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota in July 2004 at Toyota of Santa Monica in California.
