The owner of a 2002 Dodge 1500 contacted the Las Vegas Metro Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen. The Las Vegas Metro PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge.

A short time after the stolen vehicle entry, troopers with the Nevada Highway Patrol, officers with the North Las Vegas Police Department and Viper Detectives picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Dodge with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Dodge and initiated a traffic stop. The Dodge pulled over, placed the truck into reverse and rammed the patrol car. The Dodge then took off in an attempt to elude officers but instead crashed into a vehicle and a semi-truck. Officers took the offender into custody and booked for several felony charges.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Dodge 1500 in February 2002 at Moss Brothers Dodge in Riverside, California.
