The owners of a Honda Civic contacted the West Valley Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen.

A police officer verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which instantly and automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Just minutes later an off-duty K-9 officer with the West Valley PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) installed in his patrol vehicle as well as in other patrol cars and aircraft at no cost to law enforcement agencies.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer quickly tracked and located the abandoned Honda at a shopping center parking lot.  The Honda was recovered by the West Valley PD officers and returned to the very surprised and pleased current owners of the Honda Civic.

The LoJack® System had been installed in the Honda Civic in 2007 at Honda of Mission Valley in San Diego, California, at the request of the owner of the car at that time.  As there are no subscription fees with LoJack the device remains viable to be activated at any time the vehicle is entered as stolen by a law enforcement agency.  The device de-activates when the vehicle recovered by police and the theft record is canceled.
