The manager of the equipment and vehicle rental department of a home improvement store contacted the Casa Grande Police Department to report that one of their rental trucks was stolen. The 2015 Ford F250 truck was rented several days prior and not returned as scheduled.

The Casa Grande PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Fifteen minutes later, deputies from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Ford to the area of Interstate 10 and Grant Road in Tucson. This is approximately 60 miles south of Casa Grande where the truck was rented.

The deputies located the stolen Ford F250 unoccupied in a motel parking lot. The suspect was not registered with the motel and the motel staff had no further information on any guests related to the stolen Ford truck. The Ford was recovered in good condition and processed for evidence. The Ford F250 was impounded for safekeeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F250 in March 2015 by Commercial Sales.
