The owner of a BMW 330i contacted the Austin Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen. The owner parked his BMW at a gas station and went inside leaving his vehicle running and unattended.  When he returned, he found his BMW missing.

The Austin PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

Later, officers from the San Marcos Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen BMW and observed it traveling southbound on Interstate 35.  When officers attempted to stop the stolen BMW, a chase ensued.  The stolen BMW eventually was stopped and the five suspects inside the BMW jumped out and fled on foot.  All five suspects were apprehended and arrested.

The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW 330i in April 2002 at Valencia BMW in California.
