The owner of a 2014 Toyota Camry contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in the city of San Diego.
The San Diego PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.
Within 18 minutes, officers from the Chula Vista Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota Camry near I-805 and H Street with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to the area of I-805 and Palm Ave. in San Diego. A high risk traffic stop was made and one suspect was taken into custody for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Camry in May 2014 at Toyota of Chula Vista in California.
