The owners of a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had recently been stolen from their residence.
The Phoenix PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

Thirty minutes later, officers from the Phoenix PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers located the Chevrolet occupied and being driven on the city streets.
When the Phoenix PD officers attempted to conduct the traffic stop, the Chevrolet fled at a high rate of speed. Officers followed at a safe speed and located the stolen Chevy unoccupied in the neighborhood near 16th Avenue and Wier Avenue in Phoenix. The suspects had fled on foot and evaded capture. A search of the area was unsuccessful in locating the suspects. The Chevy was recovered and processed for evidence. The Chevy was later returned to the owners in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Avalanche in December 2003 at Mullahey Chevrolet in Fullerton, California.
