The owners of a 2006 Land Rover contacted the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department West Hollywood Station to report that their vehicle was stolen. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Land Rover.

A short while later officers from the Los Angeles Police Department 77th St Division were southbound on Western Ave from Slauson Ave when the LAPD Air 3 flight officers advised that they had been tracking the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Land Rover with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the air ship tracked the Land Rover to 77 Street and located the vehicle parked and occupied by a male and female who were apparently sleeping. The officers drove to that location and made contact with the individuals taking them into custody without further incident. The driver was arrested and booked for vehicle theft and the female passenger was arrested for a felony forgery warrant from Glendale, California. The Land Rover was stored and later released to the victim.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Land Rover in July 2005 at Silver Star Motor Company in Thousand Oaks, California.
