The owner of a Honda Accord contacted the Fresno Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from him at gunpoint as he was preparing to drive it to work. An unidentified adult male approached the victim as he was getting into his Honda, pointed a gun to his head and ordered him out of the vehicle. The victim struggled with the suspect briefly before the suspect drove off in his Honda. The Fresno PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

About 20 minutes after being entered into the stolen vehicle system, an officer from the Fresno PD, picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the Honda to the 2800 block of Richert Avenue in northeast Fresno. The Honda was found unoccupied and abandoned, parked on the side of the road. Surveillance was initiated but no one ever returned to the Honda.

The Honda was recovered intact and undamaged, it was returned to the owner at the scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in July 2003 by Bullock Enterprises in Sunny Isles, Florida.
