The owner of a 2001 Honda Accord contacted the Merced Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen while they were at a grocery store. The Merced PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Within thirty minutes of the Honda entered into the stolen vehicle system, an officer from the Merced PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the Honda to the 1800 block of Ashley Avenue in Merced. The officer spotted the occupied Honda parked in front of a residence and made contact with the two adult male occupants. After questioning, both suspects were arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

The Honda was recovered intact and undamaged; it was released to the owner at the scene.
The LoJack® System was installed in November 2000 at Maroone Honda in North Hollywood, California.
