The owner of a 2004 Acura contacted the Merced Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from in front of their residence during the night. The Merced PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Acura.

Within thirty minutes of being entered into the stolen vehicle system, an officer from the Merced PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Acura with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the Acura to the 1300 block of 12th Street in Merced. The Acura was found unoccupied and abandoned, parked at the curb in a residential area.

The Acura was recovered intact and undamaged; it was released to the owner at the scene.
The LoJack® System was installed in May 2004 at Santa Monica Acura in California.
