The owners of a 1999 Mitsubishi Montero contacted the Ventura Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.
The Ventura PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mitsubishi.

A short time later, patrol officers from the Oxnard Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mitsubishi with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles, in the area of Second Street and “C” Street. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Mitsubishi to the area of Edgewood Way and “M” Street. The officers observed two suspects inside of the Mitsubishi. The female driver was taken into custody for auto theft related charges along with the passenger for Narcotics possession without incident.
The Mitsubishi was impounded for safe keeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mitsubishi Montero in May 1998 at San Bernardino Mitsubishi in California.
