A local construction company was working on a project in South Philadelphia. The company employees left the site on Monday afternoon and returned in the morning hours of Wednesday to discover that the company Case Backhoe had been stolen from the location. The employees notified their company office and then called 911. The Philadelphia Police Department Radio dispatched a 17th District officer who quickly arrived on location, interviewed the principals and then surveyed the area for the subject Backhoe. When the Backhoe could not be located, the officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and arranged for the stolen Backhoe information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Case Backhoe.

Within minutes of the LoJack activation broadcast uniformed officers from the Philadelphia PD 35th District  picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Case Backhoe with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the signal to the area of 2200 block of West Pacific Street where the officers observed a parked Case Backhoe. Members of the Philadelphia PD Major Crimes Auto Squad arrived on location a short time later and checked the product identification number on the backhoe and positively identified the machine as the backhoe stolen in south Philadelphia. Officers made the proper notifications including the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2000 Case Backhoe in March 2003 as a commercial installation.
