The owner of a 2010 Honda Civic LX contacted the Chicago Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen with keys from the 700 block of W Erie Ave in Chicago’s River West neighborhood. The Chicago PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Within minutes of the Honda being reported as stolen troopers from the Illinois State Police picked up the audible and directional cues being broadcast from the stolen vehicle with the LoJack Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the Illinois State Police tracked the stolen Honda to the 700 block of North Willard Ave in Chicago’s Noble Square neighborhood where it was recovered unoccupied. The Honda was recovered less than an hour after it was reported stolen and returned to a grateful owner undamaged before it could be stripped, cloned, re-tagged or used in a crime.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic LX in August 2010 at Riverside Metro Auto Group in Riverside, California.
