The owner of a 2006 Lexus IS250 contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in the city of San Diego.
The San Diego PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lexus.
At a later time, officers from the San Diego PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lexus with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Lexus to a residential neighborhood located in the 7300 block of Regents Road in San Diego. A traffic stop was attempted. After a short vehicle and foot pursuit, a K-9 unit was deployed. The suspect was apprehended and arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Lexus IS250 in January 2009 at BMW of San Diego in California.
