The owners of a 2012 Volkswagen Passat contacted the San Diego County Sherriff’s Department to report their vehicle was stolen in the city of Escondido.
The San Diego County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Volkswagen.

A short while later deputies from the San Diego County SD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Volkswagen with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Volkswagen to an apartment complex located near the 400 block of Washington and Hickory Street in the city of Escondido.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Volkswagen Passat in November 2014 at Mossy Volkswagen Escondido in California.
